Pride is Different These Days

Over the past 50 years, the word PRIDE became a different meaning. The true meaning of PRIDE is this…

A high or inordinate opinion of one’s own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether as cherished in the mind or as displayed in bearing, conduct, etc.

the state or feeling of being proud.

A becoming or dignified sense of what is due to oneself or one’s position or character; self-respect; self-esteem.

Pleasure or satisfaction taken in something done by or belonging to oneself or believed to reflect credit upon oneself:civic pride.

Something that causes a person or persons to be proud:His art collection was the pride of the family.

So, where did all this go from knowing that one can be proud of themselves to having pride for every little thing?

Yes, the most recent PRIDE is for the LGBTQ community, but what about the other communities? For instance, Black Pride, American Pride, a Lions Pride (yes, it is a true term meaning Group of Lions). So, where did it all go crazy?

PRIDE for All

In a world where things are getting a bit risky, we have to hide our pride of who we are, not what we are. I am a 36-year old who is proud to be living. Yes, I have made some choices in my life, but, those choices DO NOT define who I am.

Yes, I have been made fun of the way I talk, look and all sorts of stuff, but I am letting that get me down? HELL NO! I have pride in who I am.

Even if you are gay or not, there are ways to show your pride, for example, help out at different organizations like a Homeless Shelter or an LGBT Youth Crisis Center. Either way, you will make someones day better while also giving you more pride.

What do you have PRIDE in?
